History
The Alpha Mu chapter was founded at UVA in May of 1921, then established in what is now the Sigma Pi house on Virginia Avenue.
Like most chapters across the US, we folded during WWII as the college generation went to war, but were re-chartered soon afterwards in our current house, the former governor's country home, given to us by Albertus S. Harrison.
We made it through the 70's and 80's with the establishment of some great traditions, photo albums for alumni blackmail, and great stories.
Today, we're having fun, giving back, and making the most of our undergraduate experience.
(For more information about the national fraternity, check out our national history.)
The House
Our house was formerly the governor's summer home, and is owned by the chapter after receiving it as a gift.
It currently houses thirteen brothers in eight bedrooms. Brothers are expected to live in the house for one year, usually their third year, though some choose to extend their stay.
Living in the house is a great experience: you're right in the middle of everything with great guys. Everywhere you live afterwards is inherently boring.
Meals
Most brothers participate in an optional meal plan which provides dinner delivered to the house four nights a week. Brothers can also be found at at the house grilling on Thursdays.
